So Im going to be my usual self and rant for a second not caring what people think!!

I got an email from someone today telling me that they had a run in with the farmer and hes not happy. Why isn't he happy?? Well some people have taken it upon themselves to create a new road to get to our field. In creating that new road they went into the farmers field. Now the thing that comes to my mind is..."why would you think that would be ok??? Common sense would tell me that this is the farmers land and he needs to plant on it. Lets not piss the farmer off so we lose the field." Maybe I'm just being stupid I guess but I just cant figure out how you would think that is ok. Also the corner of the field. People have been cutting that corner cause the original one was too messy. Now again common sense would tell me that if your cutting the corner cause its too messy on the outside the inside will eventually be messy too. So why cut the corner and mess the field up even more??? We have been talking about doing gravel and I thought this spring we would actually do it. Most of us have trucks that are capable of making it thru the wet spots so I can only imagine this was done to keep the trucks clean. Very nice!! So between making our own road and leaving trash we might possible lose one of the best (if not the best) fields in Maryland. I didn't think it was hard to follow rules (the three or four that we placed) but its just too much I guess. I can tell you this. I will do the best damage control I can but if we lose the field I will not take the time to look for another field. Apparently the farmer is looking to have the county shut us down. I haven't spoken to the farmer yet as he has not returned my call. So... we will see.

If I offended anyone then you should be offended cause your one of ones Im talking about. If you are not an offender please keep an eye out for those that are. Remember guys I begged and pleaded to the county that we would keep it clean and quiet. That means not pissing off the farmer. Picking up trash and cig butts. Not going off the beaten path. Hopefully Im overreacting and the farmer isnt that mad but from the sounds of it he is.

Im with ya 100% on this one! I know it can get really muddy in that one spot near the dirt pile, but just drive through it slowly and you will be fine... there's no reason to cut into the field!

Will, myself, and the rest of us who came from the Batavia field knows what its like not to have anywhere to fly--- it sucks! It would be a shame to lose one of the best flying fields in the country! I dont think we should have to put up signs but maybe we should?

Gentlemen,

+1 Bob

Will is 100% right. I would like to table a 0% tolerance policy moving forward, even if it means locking the gate behind ourselves. You deviate from the road, your club membership and field rights are rescinded.

This is a great field and I would hate to lose it because someone did not want to get their vehicle dirty!

+1 Agree with everything stated above ^

I'm a new member of the club and have been extremely happy with the club and it's excellent location. I'd hate to loose a great field due to someone "cutting corners". If someone with a small low car (like my Honda Fit) can get through the existing trail unscathed there's no reason why bigger cars / trucks can't get through.

Will (and others) please let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

Hi guys, I too will be highly pissed if we lose the field because of our actions!!! I am in favor of a combination lock on the gate. Will, I know you said a lock might be a problem, but maybe there is a way around that. On at least 2 occasions I have seen vehicles drive in to the field and keep going down to the tree line on the left, cross the road and keep going. Makes you wonder what happens when we are not there.

Well unfortunately we cannot put a lock on it. Cause of BGE and the farmer. Also there really isn't much we can do other then go to the people and ask them what they are here for. If not for helis or the farmer then call the police for trespassing. Thats about all we can do there. Tbh I don't think its them that made the tracks or cut the corner. I talked to the farmer finally and he wasn't pissed off but definitely upset. We cant keep this up guys or we will most definitely lose the field!!

I'm with all y'all as well. If we can't put up a lock and can't control who goes into and out of the field, we're screwed. We are going to loose the field. The farmer is going to think that we (Baltimore Boyz) are doing the damage, even if none of the members are doing the damage. This seems like a loose/loose situation.

Whatever you want to do Will, I'll back you up 100%.

Mark

I agree with you Mark but I hate to say it. Im fairly confident it was us. In know for a fact it was us cutting the corner. Also the trash has been a small issue buts its there. We only have ourselves to blame tbh. I think we will be ok but we really need to police ourselves.

You would think that we are all adults here. I guess not. I see this same kind of juvinial behavior everywhere. Every club I have belonged to, some A- hole see's it nessessary to fly regardless of the impact to the facility. If you can't drive in and park without impact......STAY HOME.
If you take it in, take it out. Nobody should have to clean up after you. Seams to me, these are the same things I tell my CHILDREN.
Organized flying sites are, especially good ones, are rare at best. If we find the offenders, we need to expel them. Perhaps they will learn the hard way and take their lesson somewhere else. We don't need them.
